Since the 1998 publication of D. Roger Howlett's "The Lynn Beach Painters: Art Along the North Shore 1880-1920" there has been heightened interest in the seven artists identified as Lynn Beach painters. One of the most celebrated and reviewed in his time was Charles Edwin Lewis Green (1844-1915). Green was the subject of his own exhibition and catalogue by Frederic Alan Sharf and John Hardy Wright in 1980 "C. E. L. Green: Shore and Landscape Painter of Lynn and Newlyn."
